About PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Silchar
PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Silchar was established in 1981 as a civil sector school of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi, under the Ministry of Human Resource and development (MHRD), government of India. Initially classes were conducted in a temporary building, but later it was shifted to a permanent building in a spacious campus of 6 acres in 1999. The Vidyalaya has classes from I to XII with Science, Commerce and Humanities stream at 10+2 level with a strength of 1846 students and 70 staff members. The Vidyalaya has a good infrastructure for imparting quality education. We have 2 Computer Labs with Internet facility, a very rich library having more than 6000 books on varied subjects along with 25 regularly prescribed periodicals, fully equipped Physics, Chemistry and Bio Lab with overhead projectors, well developed Primary Resource Room and Teaching Aids Room, 16 projectors in various rooms, a well maintained playground and a Sports Room accommodating all sports items. We have a very sound and exemplary track of producing quality results in AISSE and AISSCE conducted by the CBSE. Every year a good number of students are selected in Medical, Engineering and other professional courses in India and abroad.
The Vidyalaya gives maximum stress on all round development in the child’s personality. We provide academic as well as other curricular training in various fields and provide opportunities to students to participate in a variety of activities organized at Vidyalaya Level, Regional Level and also at National Level by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. Our children are provided an appropriate platform to exhibit their talents through activities such as- Mathematics Olympiad, Green Olympiad, National Children’s Science Congress, Youth Parliament, Rashtriya Ekta Shivir, National Level Essay and Painting Competitions. Scouting, NCC, Adventure Activities, Educational Tour and many other CCA and extra-curricular activities. Experts and coaches are engaged to train the children in various activities and skill building. We bring out the Vidyalaya Magazine annually to nurture the creative talent of children. Our staff is regularly trained through In-service training programmes, Induction courses and various other workshops to equip them with the latest concepts in their subjects and methodologies. The Vidyalaya is a miniature India inculcating feelings of patriotism, brotherhood and national integration in the students. Our mission is to produce future citizens endowed with values and skills to face the challenges of tomorrow’s world.
